Although easy to make, crumble can be a real hit or miss. Over the past few weeks with the cold creeping back in, apple and berry crumble has been our Sunday ritual. I've been trying to nail down the crumble texture and now I have it to perfected to share.
The best crumble you've made yet. – My family!
Apple & Berry Crumble
Your Ingredients
1 bag of frozen berries (600g)
4 apples (skins on or off)
150g plain flour
100g unsalted butter
3 tbsp sugar
100g oats
Half of 1 lemon
Cream or custard, to serve
How to make this crumble
Preheat to 200°C.
In a oven proof dish add the frozen berries. Chop the apples into little pieces and add to the berries mix.
Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the fruit. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and mix the fruit together and leave to one side.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and flour together. Use your fingers until you get a crumbly texture. Then add 2 tablespoons of sugar and the oats. Crumble together with your fingertips.
Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the fruits. You can top with a little cinnamon. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
Serve right after with fresh cream, custard or ice cream.
